The Scottish side kicked off their Champions Cup journey in ideal fashion with a crucial bonus-point away victory against Sale.
Taking advantage of the elements at their backs, Sale began strongly and raced to a fourteen-point advantage within the first quarter. Scores from the Sale skipper and youngster Ollie Davies put them in command.
But, Glasgow responded admirably with a pair of scores before the interval. Forward Hiddleston and flanker Darge both crossed to reduce the deficit.
Further after the break tries from Kyle Steyn and centurion Stafford McDowall extended the Warriors' advantage to twelve points. Marius Louw's try for the hosts set up a tense finale, but the visitors held firm to claim a major opening win.
The match began with a quick try as Sale captain Ernst van Rhyn drove over from close range after only two minutes. A first-half knock to midfielder Rekeiti Ma'asi-White brought teenager Davies into the action for his European debut.
The youngster made an immediate impact. Switching to fly-half, he ran a smart support line to collect an offload and touch down, extending the home side's advantage.
Facing challenging weather, the Warriors turned to their forward power to get back into the game. A strong line-out drive was finished by front-rower Hiddleston. Prior to the half, Rory Darge barged over, with Adam Hastings' conversion making it a two-point game at half-time.
The Scottish club seized the lead for the first occasion early in the second half. A poor kick was collected by number eight Jack Dempsey, who set up skipper Steyn to break a challenge and sprint to the line.
Now in the ascendancy, they secured the fourth try when Stafford McDowall ran through a tackle to celebrate his 100th appearance for the team. This try capped a run of 26 unanswered points.
The hosts found a late hope when Marius Louw used good skills to cross. The kick made it a one-score game with minutes remaining.
One last opportunity came for them from a line-out in the 22, but they failed to secure the ball, sealing Glasgow's triumph.
Sale must bounce back ahead of a journey to face Clermont Auvergne this weekend. Meanwhile, Glasgow Warriors will welcome six-time winners Toulouse to their home ground.
The two sides are placed in a strong Pool One that also features the English side and Durban-based outfit the Sharks.
