That Gory Cartoon Film Ending That Haunts Fans

Out of every adult-oriented animated films I have ever viewed, no other has lingered in my mind quite like the dread-soaked finale of the graphically gory as well as overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 The Unicorn Wars.

In 2015’s, this Spain-based filmmaker developed a dark, somber and often savage universe that included several minor , forlorn glimmers of hope.

Although The Unicorn Wars feels like it originated from an impulse to push animation even more, the director stated that it was actually an effort to convey a global, cross-cultural theme about “the mutual source of every conflict.”

This theme is expressed through a group of vividly colored bears , openly modeled after a famous series of cuddly characters.

Growing up in a society focused on warmongering and the defense industry, a lot of these animals are fixated on slaughtering unicorns, thanks to a sacred text that claims the bears they were once rulers of the woodland, until the horned beings forced them out.

Some did not entirely accepted the indoctrination, , would rather sample drugs and mate in the forest.

In contrast to their gentle counterparts, these colorful critters show genitals , definite urges.

For one notably brutal, skeptical animal, the bear named Bluey, the battle against unicorns becomes a path toward dominance — and particularly to authority above his gentler, nicer brother Tubby.

Bluey acts as a tormentor and an obvious psychopath , and when terror dominates his unit and claims his fellow soldiers one by one, he takes increasingly influence for himself, through ever more gory, harmful methods.

At the same time, the horned creatures are suffering their own terror, through a spreading, harmful creature in their forest.

“At the beginning, it appears as a comedy,” the filmmaker said. “However it turns into a more dramatic and melancholic movie. And ultimately, it transforms into a horror film.”

The Unicorn Wars starts out similar to one of the more quirky movies by a renowned animator, that uncover a mischievous joy in allowing cartoon characters curse, fire weapons, or engage sexually.

Subsequently it becomes something more like a bleaker work from that artist, with increasingly explicit brutality and a tangible connection to the actual tragedy of war.

In the finale, it’s an outright extreme drama massacre.

The fear which makes the film an ideal spooky-season viewing begins a lot earlier than that description suggests.

Unicorn Wars is one for the devoted lovers of violence, for enthusiasts of graphic films who desire to view a movie they have not seen on-screen before, and can endure a story that offers unflinching brutality.

Watch it in a dark room with no disturbances, and the conclusion will burrow deep within you and linger.
